Nexus Press
“The Focal Point of Your Reloading Process”
When we set out to design the Nexus Press, our goal was to build a press that eliminated all of the problems caused by the required die and shell holder relationship in other traditional reloading presses on the market. We also wanted to develop a more consistent cam over action, a stronger press, and a work envelope without annoying C arms in your way or small work areas. The Nexus Press uses two precision ground linear guide rods and two linear guide rod bearings, which create an incredibly smooth and consistent feel. There are no cast iron or cast aluminum parts; we use pre-hardened salt-bath nitrided steel and high-strength Type III hard-coat anodized aluminum, which dramatically increase the Nexus’ strength and consistency, as well as provide lubricity and corrosion resistance.
One of the groundbreaking features of the Nexus Press is the dual hard stop system, where replaceable hard stops precisely end the movement of your floating die block in the exact same location on every single cycle of the press, leading to perfect sizing and consistency. With the Nexus, there is no longer any requirement for shell holder contact to the bottom of your die. We found that traditional design causes stress on your reloading press and sizing or seating die, so we made the Nexus press dead stop or cam over independently of the shell holder, by using our hard stops. The Nexus comes with (2) pair of hard stops, one for a dead stop (used for depriming or bullet seating), and one for a cam-over (used for brass sizing.) With the sizing hard stops installed, the press cams over 2° past the top dead center, allowing the exact same amount of sizing with each stroke.
Another one of the highly innovative features of the Nexus Press is our floating shell holder system, which is also quick change and tool-less. This is similar to a custom rifle action’s floating bolt head feature. The shell holder will center on your die each time because of the “floating” ability of the shell holder. Because of the hard-stops decoupling any requirement for die and shellholder contact, we were now able to design the shell holder system shorter, to allow .010″ more sizing than all other shell holders on the market. So, if you are struggling to get enough sizing out of your dies, there is no need to modify them anymore; the Nexus Press will take that headache out of the equation. The press comes with the four most common shell holders: 223 bolt face, 308 bolt face, PRC/Magnum bolt face, and Lapua Magnum bolt face. Additional shell holders are available to purchase a la carte.
The die retention system is entirely unique; it has radial floating capabilities, allowing your die to perfectly center on each stroke. Two detents hold the die in the press, but still work with any standard lock ring available on the market today. Of course, it was also designed to work with our Solo Lock Rings too, which we also include one of with each Nexus.
Additionally, the Nexus Press has storage areas for all your shell holders or dies, and the spare hard stops. There are also two 8×32 threaded holes where you can install small brushes to help with brass prep.
The Nexus Press ships set up to run standard 7/8″ diameter dies. To run 1″ diameter dies, you can purchase an adaptor plate, which can be swapped in minutes.
Like all Short Action Customs products, the Nexus Press has a 100% lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects.
